The Female Poppy
"Poppy's objective is to demonstrate the Digital Twin concept using the 3DEXPERINCE platform. This Poppy was put together by our Brazil team's interns: Bruno, Gustavo, Manoella and, a former intern, Fabiana. They assembled the Open Source Robot and learned how to connect Poppy to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The Interns decided that the Brazilian Poppy would be a female robot."
Poppy is a 3DS ACADEMIA project that was first developed in France. Its objective is to demonstrate the Digital Twin concept through The 3DEXPERINCE Platform.
Digital Twin is a virtual representation of what has been produced. It's possible to compare a Digital Twin to its engineering design to understand better what was produced versus what was designed, tightening the loop between design and execution.
It is a vast concept and is not limited to manufacturing. It can be used to Digitalize the factory management, Model molecular elements, simulate physical and systems properties.
Managed by Ligia Oliveira, Brazil's team collaborated to manage the budget, resources, and deadlines. Also, they assembled the Open Source Robot and learned how to connect Poppy to The 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.
Each Intern improved their skills in coworking, programming, planning, assembly, electronics, and 3D Printing.
We started by buying poppy materials and 3D printing her parts. Afterward, we started assembling her and testing all motors and Python programs.
Assembling poppy was a great team activity. I was responsible for the motors controlling code adaptation and communication with 3DEXPERIENCE.
